Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Know may Allaah have mercy upon you that apostasy from the deen of Islaam can take place in four ways
1. Apostasy by way of the statement
2. Apostasy by way of the action
3. Apostasy by way of the belief
4. Apostasy by way of doubt
As
for the apostasy by way of the statement the examples are many, from
them is cursing Allaah and/or His messenger. If a person was to say that
Allaah is an oppressor or that Allaah is poor (as the jews have said).
If one was to say that Allaah doesn't know some of the affairs or He
doesn't have control over some of the affairs all of these statements
are considered statements of apostasy from the deen of Islaam. If one
was to verbally make mockery of Allaah, His deen or His Messenger this
amounts to apostasy by way of the statement. If one was to say that
Allaah didn't obligate upon us 5 prayers in a day and night this person
apostates from Islaam by the consensus of the scholars if this
individual was not one who was ignorant and lived far away from the
Muslims. This person is to be educated about this matter and if He
continues with his statement he has become an apostate.
As
for the apostasy by way of the action circumambulating the graves
seeking nearness to the inhabitants of the graves or praying to them.
Slaughtering for other than Allaah. Desecrating the Qur'aan and
belittling the Qur'aan by sitting on it intending by that the defamation
of the Qur'aan. All of these action are actions of apostasy which put a
person outside the fold of Islaam.
As
for apostasy by way of the belief then it is by that which the person
believes in his heart even if he didn't say a word. If person believes
with his heart that Allaah is poor, stingy, or an oppressor, this person
has apostates from Islaam by the mere belief which he holds in his
heart according to the consensus of the scholars. If a person believes
there is no life after death, or that there's no hell-fire or paradise
this person has disbelieved based upon the belief which is in his heart.
If a person believes that Nooh, Ibraaheem, Moosaa, Haaroon, Daawood,
Sulaymaan, Eesaa, Muhammad or any other prophet and messenger
(alayhimus-salaam) were liars this person has apostates from Islaam.
As
for apostasy by way of doubt, an example of this is that a person has
doubt whether Allaah is real or not, or a person has doubt whether
Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi was-salaam) is the last prophet and
messenger. If a person has doubt about these matters or any other matter
that is known to be from the deen by necessity then this person has
apostates from Islaam because of his doubt.
It
is upon us to be aware of these matters as well as other than them. We
have to stick to the ulamaa past and present in order to be upon clarity
in the deen.
Most of these examples where taken from the lecture of Imaam Ibn Baaz on "The Vices In The Matters of Aqeedah"
Inshaa Allaah I will post more from that which the Shaykh (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said.
Abu Yusuf Khaleefah
